Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Project Finance Manager in Cairo, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Project Finance Manager you will be responsible for raising long term debt financing for Scatec’s projects. This includes originating discussions with different international and local lenders as well as multilateral financing institutions, managing the lenders’ due diligence requirements and negotiating financing agreements with lenders. The Project Finance Manager will also be responsible for supervising the preparation and maintenance of the financial model for each project from project origination until financial close.

 

Main responsibilities 

Interaction with lenders

  • Raise non-recourse debt financing from lenders for each project and obtain early-stage indication of appetite
  • Negotiate with lenders to obtain optimal financing terms
  • Negotiate mandate letters and financing agreements with Lenders
  • Manage and follow-up on lenders’ due diligence work streams (technical/legal/financial/insurance/E&S) and liaise with relevant departments to obtain necessary input
  • Present and negotiate the proposed financing package for each project with equity partners Conditions precedent
  • Ensure all CPs are met on a timely basis through close follow-up with lenders and relevant departments
  • Prepare any waiver requests to process first disbursement
  • Execute required interest rate hedge for the projects

 Financial modelling

  • Delivery of cash flow forecasts full the project lifetime
  • Prepare different financial sensitivities and scenarios for each of the projects
  • Assess the appropriate cost of equity and required rate of return for the projects
  • Analysis of project returns including equity IRR/LCOE, etc…
  • Actual preparation

Documentation

  • Prepare Project Finance input to internal and external presentations during all project phases
  • Negotiate relevant financial closing documentation and co-ordinate signing and closing
  • Support business development team with financial analyses as required during commercial negotiations

Market Insights

  • Closely follow market developments in terms of interest rate movements and debt pricing
  • Identify opportunities to improve project returns through different financial solutions
  • Identify new funding opportunities (grants/concessional financing)

Internal project team coordination / interaction

  • Supervise project inputs from all stakeholders and ensure timely update of financial models
  • Liaise with project team members / departments across organisation and geographies
  • Support senior management decision making and the development and technical know-how of project finance analysts in the region  

 Qualifications and competencies 

  • Bachelor/master’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or similar University level education
  • 7-10 years background in Project Finance, Structured Finance or M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions)
  • 5+ years’ experience in complex financial modelling using MS Excel
  • Language: fluent both written and spoken in English
  • Commerce Degree or Engineering Degree with CA/CFA/MBA would be as advantage
  • Demonstrated successful financial closing of several Project Financed deals would be as advantage
  • Renewable energy experience would be as advantage
