Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for an Asset Manager in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Asset Manager you will support the team in the daily management of all commercial, contractual, regulatory and reporting obligations of a portfolio of Scatec Solar (PV) power plants. The Asset Manager will take the lead in monitoring and execution of all commercial and administrative tasks, commitments, responsibilities, and undertakings belonging to each Project Company. Support the VP and the different Scatec Solar Business Units throughout the projects’ phases of construction and operations. Involvement in projects during the development stage to financial close to ensure the projects ownership make financial sense and do not contain onerous provisions which may hamper implementation.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Project Company Asset Management: General Management and ultimate responsibility and accountability for SPV management from Financial close to end of project life
  • Drive financial and operational performance and  be responsible for driving profits – refinancing / plant performance improvements / opex optimisations 
  • Ensure that the power plants are delivering expected financial returns
  • Forecasting and budgeting
  • Analyse system efficiencies and identify opportunities for improved performance
  • Update the Financial Models as and when required by the Financing Agreements
  • Financial Management and Accounting:Administer all project financing agreements
  • Update the Financial Models as and when required by the Financing Agreements
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Board and shareholders, Lenders, landlords, IPPO, DMRE, etc
  • Corporate Governance and Contract Management: Administer and ensure compliance for all project contracts and agreements between the SPV and third parties
  • Socio economic and development obligation

Qualifications and competencies 

  • CA(SA) or equivalent qualification OR
  • Engineering qualification with good financial acumen which can be evidenced by: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent Proficiency in understanding and budgeting cashflows
  • Proficiency in understanding financial modelling and analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Project Finance (structuring, deal monitoring or courses)
  • Financial modelling certification
  • Project Finance (structuring, deal monitoring or courses) and Project management
  • 5 to 7 years of working experience within the areas of finance management, project-related asset management, project finance-related banking or advisory, corporate finance or controlling, accounting or auditing
  • Knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy projects 
  • Previous Asset management experience in the renewable energy sector

Additional information:

  • Should be available and accustomed to travel both domestically and internationally to 3rd world countries
  • Must be able to work in an open plan environment
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required
