Main Purpose of the Position:

 

As a Project Finance Analyst, you will support the financial evaluation of our projects by using financial modeling skills. You will play a key role in determining the merits or risks and raising financing for new projects and opportunities during all phases of project development, from inception to financial close. In doing so, you will help build the regional pipeline and backlog. Moreover, you will support our under-construction and operating assets with modeling and other financing-related tasks.

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Modeling:

    • Prepare comprehensive financial models
    • Deliver cash flow analysis
    • Analyze project scenarios
    • Evaluate and optimize input assumptions
    • Analyze project returns
    • Optimize the business case to maximize value creation
    • Evaluate project risks (including electricity price risk)
  2. Structuring:

    • Prepare Project Finance input for presentations during all project phases
    • Prepare relevant due diligence documentation
    • Support tax structuring and off-take structuring efforts
    • Support the business development team with financial analysis as required during commercial negotiations
  3. Interaction with Lenders, Insurance Advisors, Tax Advisors, and Financial Advisors:

    • Collect and prepare required project information to be shared with lenders
    • Apply external advisor input appropriately
    • Coordinate advisor workstreams and manage interactions
    • Support lender negotiations
  4. Research:

    • Evaluate the financial feasibility of new technologies (including BESS - Battery Energy Storage Systems)
    • Investigate tax and legal aspects of a project
    • Contribute to building regional (country-specific) expertise in financing markets and macroeconomics
  5. Internal Project Team Coordination/Interaction:

    • Obtain project inputs from all stakeholders and ensure they are appropriately captured in financial models
    • Define results in terms of project risk/return
    • Liaise with project team members and departments across the organization and geographies
    • Coordinate with the Project Finance & Investments team on general Project Finance policies and guidelines

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineer, Accounting or Business & Administration 
  • At least 3 years of experience in (Project/Asset/Corporate) Finance, M&A, investing, or a similar field
  • Previous experience in power projects is not a requirement but is considered a plus
  • Languages: Fluent in both written and spoken English and Portuguese

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated involvement in (closing) project-financed projects
  • Renewable energy experience
  • Experience working in an international context and with different business cultures

  • Excellent financial modeling skills, including cash flow modeling
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to analyze complex project and/or financing structures
  • Ability to assess market and financial risks
