Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Technical Development Manager in New Delhi, India to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. The Technical Development Manager (TDM) has overall responsibility to support the projects during the opportunity and development phase by managing the engineering, supply chain and project control resources and workstreams to deliver a consistent EPC Technical and Commercial offer support to Business Development. The TDM is the key liaison between Solutions and Business Development. He/ She is supported in the Line Organisation by the engineering, supply chain and project control department.
Main responsibilities
- Gather all useful information and inputs from Business Development Department and support them to prepare the deliverables for the Decision Gates based on the tender requirements and internal operating system.
- Coordinate and plan Engineering, Supply Chain and Project control internal resources and workstreams to ensure smooth and efficient documentation delivery.
- Responsible for overall technical workstreams in early phases of solar PV and wind projects, including feasibility and front-end engineering studies, site studies, PV and HV technical preliminary design and design specifications in contracts.
- Lead the development of technical concepts and solutions of the projects, identify optimal solutions from a technical, commercial and execution perspective at early stage including civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects of solar PV and wind power plants, interconnection and high-voltage design, yield assessments, as well as assessment of other technologies (floating PV, hybrids, etc).
- Ensure that the EPC budget is competitive and consistent with specific Technical Solutions, uncertainties, and risks of the projects.
- Lead external and internal technical development processes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to successfully lead the project to construction start.
- Manage EPC deliverables in Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Tenders organized by the off takers.
- Work in a core regional team consisting of a handful of project development and project finance resources to jointly ensure we reach the company’s ambitious growth targets.
- Support the organization by co-developing and updating the Operating System to streamline processes, ensure homogeneous quality of the deliverables and efficient delivery. Be an active member of the TDM network in Scatec to align processes among the regions and improve early phase quality and competitiveness.
Qualifications and competencies
- Technical university level degree, Electrical engineering.
- Should have 10+ years of concept to commissioning experience in relevant roles for Solar PV projects in India with a reputed EPC Company.
- Achieved SCOD for Solar PV Projects of at least 100+ MW in South India – Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu
- Capable to interpret and contribute towards optimizing PVSyst output
- Elementary knowledge of WASP or any other wind modelling tool is a big plus.
- Good knowledge of basic and detailed engineering of Solar PV projects as applicable.
- Strong network with EHV contractors in the above 4 states, with focus on 110/132kV EHV Line from PSS to GSS.
- Basic knowledge of the Solar PV supply chain in India
- Strong knowledge of STU grid network, connectivity process, commissioning procedures and regulations in above 4 states
- Desirable - Able to speak at least 1 of the local languages of above 4 states in South India
- Flexible to travel 30% of time to sites in above 4 states.
- High proficiency Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Experience with tender preparation and Construction Budget preparation.
- Experience with overall management and planning of technical workstreams of large infrastructure projects within the renewables industry
- Experience with Technical Due Diligence
- Commercial mindset and experience with optimizing overall business from a technical design and execution perspective.
