Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Maintenance System Manager in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. The Maintenance System Manager at Scatec oversees the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), a crucial tool for facilitating O&M processes, ensuring compliance and auditability, and driving the company’s transition to digitized and data-driven smart maintenance. As the owner of the group CMMS, you are responsible for its overall operation and development. You represent the CMMS both within and outside of Scatec, working closely with the CMMS team and other business units to ensure the system meets the organization’s needs.

 

Main responsibilities 

  • System Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CMMS, ensuring the system is fully functional, accessible to all relevant personnel, and performing optimally. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate necessary updates or fixes
  • Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within the CMMS by managing data entry processes and standards
  • Regularly audit data to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards, maintaining high data quality
  • User Support and Training: Provide comprehensive support to CMMS users, including troubleshooting and resolving issues Develop and deliver training programs for both new and existing users and create and maintain user manuals and training documentation
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the CMMS. Work with maintenance and operations teams to streamline workflows and enhance system usage. Implement new features and updates to the CMMS as they become available
  • Lead the implementation of the CMMS at new sites or for new projects
  • Coordinate system upgrades and enhancements, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to operations. Manage relationships with CMMS vendors and service providers
  • Manage CMMS-related projects from planning through execution and monitoring
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including management, maintenance teams, and IT departments
  • Budget Management for for CMMS-related activities, monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effective use of resources
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for the CMMS, aligning the system with organizational goals and objectives
  • Stay abreast with industry trends and advancements in CMMS and related technology, ensuring Scatec remains at the forefront of smart maintenance practices
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for the CMMS team

Qualifications and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree and several years of professional experience in similar type of work, for instance maintenance, asset management or software product ownership
  • 5-7 years experience in managing and operating CMMS or similar enterprise or asset management systems
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead system improvements and upgrades.
  • Experience with Agile or SCRUM is beneficial
  • Knowledge of IT security and data governance related to maintenance systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working across multiple business units and office locations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and user satisfaction.
  • Fluent both written and spoken in English. Additional languages like Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic are beneficial
  • Must be available to travel, typically 3-5 domestic or international travels per year with an average duration of 1 week
  • Assertive and organisationally skilled, able to operate in dynamic, multi-cultural, multi-location working environment
  • Team player who can work under pressure and can prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Driven, always looking for ways to improve and having high aspirations for own work
  • Interest in systems management and improvements
  • Quick learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Should be available and accustomed to travel both domestically and internationally to 3rd world countries
