Main Purpose of the role
Currently we are looking for a Site Construction Manager in Nagaa Hammadi , Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Site Construction Manager you will be responsible for all activities related to the onsite construction management of 1 GW Solar PV + BESS project including management of own on-site personnel, sub-suppliers/contractors and potential visitors during the execution phase. This includes all work from progress to quality, HSE, CSR, security, and direct management of day-to-day Construction activities.
Main responsibilities
- Assist project team completing detailed construction assessment & establish the Project Management Plan
- Evaluate the site conditions and ensure the Project Team establish aligned work method statements
- Review all construction documents and establish most effective mitigation to ensure Project compliance during the execution phase
- Support to the project structuring phase as and when required by the Project Manager
- Ensure construction contractors follow the set procedures within the contracts, ESMS, EA, BCOE and all other related standards and contracts.
- Ensure construction contractors are providing discipline related procedures, method statements and templates for the different site activities. Assist his team during approval phases and make sure the documentation is available and approved before any activity to start.
- Monitor and drive the EPC and sub-contractor compliance to the schedule, project documents and budget, and raise any non-compliances to the Project Manager
- Monitor, verify and review Contractor compliance to quality Assurance procedures, H&S, schedule, EMP and the ESMS
- Coordinate the on-time delivery of free Issue Material on site with the procurement & Logistic Coordinator
- Assess the sub-supplier’s management performance on a continuous basis
- Ensure onsite execution risks management are being done continuously
- Evaluate project KPI’s to ensure positive project performance identify early risks related to time and costs of the project continuously
- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring on-site works are being executed within quality standards, on time and within budget
- Follow-up of the following key project disciplines at site: Health and Safety, Environmental management, Quality Control, Document control of all quality documentation, Progress measurement of site activities and Community Liaison (Grievances)
Qualifications and competencies
Minimum:
- Educational Qualification – Degree in Engineering or Construction related field from reputed university
- Formal Qualification (Construction, Engineering, Project Management)
- 15+ years working experience in a construction project environment preferably in emerging markets
- 4+ years of experience of PV Project construction at site with construction projects involving civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning activities .
- Must have executed the PV projects at least 300MW+ of capacity as construction lead.
- Construction experience of Solar PV Projects as construction lead.
- 7+ years with direct responsibility of managing teams at site during construction
- An excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Sound understanding of multi-cultural environments
- Fluent both written and spoken in English
- Knowledge of MS Projects, Primavera & Commissioning procedure
Ideal:
- PMP Certification
- Management of the construction of high voltage networks and sub-stations
Additional Information:
- You will be supported closely by the other functions in the project, namely the HSEQ-S Manager, the Project Control Manager, the Project Procurement and Logistics Manager and the Project Technical Manager.
- This position is site based and expected to be accommodation within a camp environment
- Must be able to work in an open plan environment
- Must be able to work extended hours
- 18 Months Employment Contract subject to extension
