Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Regional HSSEQ Lead in Upington to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Regional HSSEQ Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing policies and procedures related to health, safety, security, environmental management, and quality assurance across multiple sites within the Sub-Saharan region. This role is critical in promoting a safe and secure working environment, reducing risk, and ensuring that the organization adheres to legal and regulatory requirements.
Main responsibilities
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with local/national regulations, conduct audits, risk assessments, and provide safety training
- Security Management: Implement security policies, coordinate with local teams, and manage security incidents
- Environmental Management: Lead efforts to meet environmental regulations, reduce operational impact, and report on performance
- Contractor Management: Ensure contractor compliance with HSSEQ standards and regularly audit activities
- Quality Assurance: Maintain plant quality systems, conduct audits, and address non-conformance issues
- Training & Development: Deliver HSSEQ training and keep staff updated on regulatory changes
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare HSSEQ performance reports, maintain records, and ensure compliance with company and legal standards
- Emergency Response Coordination: Develop and update emergency plans, lead drills, and coordinate with authorities during incidents
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government bodies, work with internal teams, and address employee concerns on HSSEQ matters
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, recommend, and implement improvements to enhance HSSEQ programs
Qualifications and competencies
- University Degree/National Diploma - Occupational Health and Safety
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSSQ roles
- Certifications such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001 would be advantageous
- Knowledge of HSSEQ regulations and standards
- Strong knowledge of Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems and Plant Safety Regulations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSSEQ management software
