Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Community Liaison Officer in Nagaa Hammadi, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Community Liaison Officer you will maintain stakeholder relations between Obelisk Solar Power project in Scatec and the local community. To implement social management processes and community development initiatives to mitigate project related impacts and to benefit local communities.

 

Main responsibilities 

Relationship building

  • Establish and maintain an effective relationship between the local community and the project
  • Build and foster an environment that supports community involvement, continuous community engagement
  • Provide community members with opportunities to express their concerns and raise issues
  • Liaise with local community stakeholders on behalf of the project
  • Engage and facilitate community meetings where applicable and relevant
  • Rally and build community spirit around the project

Stakeholder engagement

  • Provide regular and timely information and project updates to the local community and relevant stakeholders.
  • Create a stakeholder database, develop and regularly update community profiles and expectations
  • Report any community issues to the line manager and project/plant manager of that might affect the project activities or operations
  • Manage the community grievance mechanism

Institutional arrangements

  • Liaise with the project management & local government offices for planning and implementation of resettlement of households impacted by the project as relevant and communication of local job other opportunities to the communities

Social management and community development programs

  • Deliver weekly and monthly reports on activities
  • Identify and develop proposals for community development projects aligned with the sustainability policy
  • Review and identify potential partners for community development initiatives

Qualifications and competencies

  • University degree – preferably in social studies
  • General knowledge of local and state government practices
  • Well-developed knowledge of local language, culture, customs and practices in the community
  • Have IT skills for operating Software and Apps – MS office package
  • Must be able to report in English
  • Must be able to work flexibly according to operational needs
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
  • 2+ years in community experience in the following areas are plus:
    • Socio economic development
    • Stakeholder management
    • Formulation of strategies
    • Project management experience

Additional information

  • The role is mainly on-site as the candidate is expected to be a Naga Hammadi (or Qena) resident, may require traveling to the site, office in Cairo occasionally, and to stakeholder locations .
  • This role is for a short-term employment contract.
