Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Cairo, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Senior Quantity Surveyor you will ensure to assess claims, assist with the commercial section of variation orders, review and approve site progress measurement executed by Site Quantity Surveyors and ensure invoices are submitted, coded and reconciliation of payments are completed
Main responsibilities
- Operating System Adherence and Optimisation
- Ensure strict compliance with established guidelines, frameworks, and structures outlined in the project operating system.
- Continuously contribute to the refinement and optimisation of the operating system through feedback and process improvement initiatives.
- Effectively implement the operating system throughout all project phases, including planning, development, execution, and close-out.
- Management of Variation Orders and Employer Instructions
- Prepare accurate, high-level cost estimates for proposed changes and client instructions.
- Conduct commercial assessments and lead negotiations with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality assurance, HSE, and other departments to incorporate their technical and operational input when required.
- Interim Payment Certificates (IPC) and Financial Controls
- Review and validate IPCs prepared by Site Quantity Surveyors for accuracy and completeness.
- Assess and approve tax invoices in line with contract terms and project progress.
- Lead the preparation and agreement of Final Accounts.
- Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts aligned with financial planning objectives.
- Oversee the coding and reconciliation of project-related payments for financial transparency and audit readiness.
- Commercial Support
- Provide timely guidance to Site Quantity Surveyors on commercial matters, including pricing, contractual interpretations, and measurement methodologies.
- Ensure the Project Manager are fully informed of commercial and contractual risks affecting project time, cost, or quality.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings, offering commercial insights and updates in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Supervise progress measurements on-site to ensure accurate and timely payment certification.
- Resolve disputes related to quantities and contractual interpretations at site level.
- Maintain clear and constructive communication with contractors to foster strong working relationships.
- Qualifications and competencies
- B.Sc. QS (Hons) - (or relevant technical or commercial qualification)
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- FIDIC Form of Contract especially the FIDIC Red Book
- EPC Contractor’s scope
- EPC Contractor’s Schedule and the activities and deliverables
- Technical supplementary degree
- Fluent English and Arabic
- A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the Quantity Surveying field, preferably within organizations recognized for robust procurement and supply chain management practices.
- Extensive working knowledge of the FIDIC suite of contracts, including practical experience applying contract terms and conditions in large-scale project environments.
- Demonstrated capability in achieving measurable contract cost savings, assessing and negotiating claims, and managing teams of quantity surveyors in both site and office-based environments.
