Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Junior Asset Analyst in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As a Junior Asset Analyst, you will be responsible to act as a specialist support to the Finance and Asset Management team with a focus on financial modelling, forecasting, and planning. The candidate will support the Asset Managers and Asset Analysts in the daily management of all commercial, contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations of a portfolio of Scatec power plants in both the construction and operational phases.
Main responsibilities
- Financial model updating and analysis -Update financial models to assess trends, forecast performance & analyse project performance
- Use tools like Excel, Tableau, and PowerBI to analyze to visualize data and provide management recommendations
- Manage dashboards to track real-time financial and operational performance
- Make recommendations to the Asset Management Team using data analytics
- Create presentations and perform ad-hoc analysis
- Lenders Relationship Management - Calculate and Monitor debt covenants and other key financial metrics per financial forecasts
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports using data analytics and dashboards
- Day to day operations- Understand and ensure all project activities are aligned to all project financing agreements including the monitoring, analysis and assessment of all payments of the plant against the financial model and approved budgets
- Manage the delivery tracker for projects, board Pack Collation for board meetings
- Assisting with coordinating Board meetings and drafting Board minutes and following up on action items
- Accounting & Revenue Management- Review the electricity tariff and kilowatt hours of electricity sold and monitor monthly Production Figures and investigate anomalies.
- Ensure the timeous collection of electricity revenue, coordinate with Finance team to ensure monthly accruals, GL entries and internal reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner and allocate invoices and costs to appropriate accounts
Qualifications and competencies
- University Degree in Finance, Business science, data analytics, financial modelling or equivalent
- Knowledge / experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Power Bi will be beneficial)
- Proficiency in cashflow analysis, projections and tracking performance metrics against budget
- Proficiency in Financial modelling / data analytics certification such as FMVA®
- 3 years working experience in the following environments:
- Experience in Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Modelling, Transaction Advisory, Corporate Finance, Equity Research, Utility-scale energy
- Experience in Project finance or financial services experience in the Independent Power Producer renewable energy sector
- Experience in the renewable energies in the global energy mix
- Experience pushing the boundaries of data and developing novel approaches to shed new light on difficult questions
- Experience with problem-solving, strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to draw insights from data and recommend actions
