Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for an Accountant in Cape Town to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Accountant you will execute the accounting, administration and reporting process for Scatec SA trusts and Holding companies. The trusts are involved with social economic development activities with specific focus on Community and district trusts, Land rehabilitation trusts, BEE trusts and Holding companies. Manage the accounting, audit, and tax of the group’s semi dormant bidding entities. To maintain and improve standard accounting processes and internal reporting.
Main responsibilities
- Financial accounting: Capture day-to-day transactions on ERP System
- Bank reconciliations review for several group companies
- Maintain, review and coordinate the fixed asset register and IFRS16 lease reporting
- Update and Reconcile balance sheet recons monthly, e.g., Provisions, Accruals, pre-payments, FX Revaluation, cashbook, VAT, update debt-schedules, Utility invoices, IRS swap updates, etc.
- Inter-company transactions, reporting, confirmations, eliminations, schedules, etc.
- Financial dimension/project/segment/BU review
- Travel account and expense claim reconciliation management
- Complete the Cognos reports and disclosure forms
- Group and management reporting: Monthly Management reporting queries and analysis of budget vs actual
- IFRS 15 Revenue and Percentage of completion calculations and reporting
- Power-BI/ERP Integrated Reporting for monthly management accounts and variance analysis
- Annual Budget and Forecasts: Detailed cash flow forecasting and financial modelling
- Domestic Payments: Coordinate payments and payment process
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements for local reporting.
- International Payments: Managing SARB applications
- All Compliance and Taxes: Preparation of the monthly VAT return, filing and payment
- Preparation of the PAYE and CIT return, filing and payment
- CIPC and other Statutory submissions
Qualifications and competencies
- Diploma/Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3+ years completed Article or Auditing experience
- 5+ years commercial experience
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS & Annual Finance Statement preparation
- Knowledge of large-scale renewable energy projects, engineering or Infrastructure sectors would be beneficial
- Being flexible and experienced with ERP systems would be advantageous
