Backed by Climate Fund Managers and part of the global renewable leader Scatec, Release operates in multiple African and American countries and is headquartered in Oslo.

We are now looking for a Technical Development Lead (TDL) to join our growing team. Based in Paris, the TDL will act as the primary technical partner to the Business Development team, supporting early-stage project development and engaging directly with clients and partners across the continent.

Your Mission

As TDL, you will:

  • Act as the technical lead for project development from early opportunity screening to contract signature.
  • Support the Business Development Manager (BDM) with technical assessments, system sizing, and project feasibility studies.
  • Conduct or supervise site assessments, including analysis of terrain, grid, accessibility, and resource availability.
  • Lead the preparation of technical proposals, layouts, yield simulations, and cost estimates.
  • Represent Release as the technical counterpart to clients, advisors, and partners during development.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, supply chain, and execution teams to develop tailored technical solutions.
  • Manage the technical content of commercial proposals, including system design, equipment scope, and technical annexes to contracts.
  • Ensure seamless technical handover to execution teams upon contract award.

Your Profile

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy.
  • Minimum 5–7 years experience in solar PV and hybrid (BESS) project development or engineering.
  • Proven field experience in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar environments.
  • Proficiency in PVsyst for energy yield simulations.
  • Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Helioscope, SketchUp, QGIS, Excel, and/or other solar design tools.
  • Strong understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid configurations, and grid integration.
  • Experience in drafting technical content for commercial proposals or Lease Agreements.
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Africa (1–2 weeks per mission).

Skills:

  • Highly organized and methodical with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to translate client needs into realistic, cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and solution-driven.

What We Offer

  • Be part of an ambitious, international team at the forefront of clean energy innovation.
  • Help bring reliable, renewable power to industries and communities across Africa.
  • Work in a flexible, fast-paced environment with purpose-driven colleagues.
  • Competitive compensation, mission-driven work, and strong growth potential.

Release is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

All hiring decisions are made based on merit, competence and business need.
