Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Lead Project Planner in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Lead Project Planner you will provide a project or projects planning, scheduling, and reporting support in line with all core processes, procedures, templates and tools as described within SCATEC.
Main responsibilities
Support to Structuring Phase of Projects
- Maintain and update the high-level timeline and Structuring Phase programme. Track, monitor, and forecast progress of all activities, ensuring communication of deadlines and tasks to team members.
- Compile and prepare the overall master project schedule for the Delivery Phase, integrating the standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and incorporating critical milestones and contractual notifications (e.g., PPA time analysis).
- Provide resource (man-hours) estimation and prepare planning-related contract schedules for the head EPC, suppliers, and contractors.
- Assist the Supply Chain team with quotation documents, final Purchase Orders, and contract/tender evaluations by reviewing and analyzing schedules, manpower, and machinery requirements.
- Coordinate with the engineering team on planning for engineering documents, MDL alignment, and preparation of engineering progress reports.
- Support the Project Manager in planning and preparing for Gate Reviews.
- Report project progress through inputs for bi-weekly progress reports and 4-week look-ahead reports.
- Compile the Programme Memorandum Basis, consolidating all relevant project information.
- Support and monitor to Delivery / Execution Phase of Projects
- Review and verify contractor’s baseline, Programme Basis Memorandum, manpower and machinery histograms, and S-Curves. Set up the baseline, weighting, and generate S-Curves.
- Update the project schedule based on work achieved and provide forecasts to Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, and PM on upcoming and critical activities.
- Coordinate with the analyst project planner to ensure contractor information is incorporated into the master schedule. Ensure site project planner follows Scatec’s policies, procedures, and templates.
- Support documentation for EPC contracts, supplier and subcontractor RFQs, and final Purchase Orders.
- Track, monitor, and forecast project progress. Analyze gaps between planned and actual progress, highlight concerns, and propose recovery plans.
- Report progress including inputs for client monthly reports, internal status reports, S-Curves, critical path analysis, and cash flow milestones.
- Support project manager with Gate Review planning and preparation and risk analysis
Additional support and monitor to Delivery / Execution Phase of HydroPower Projects
- Provide planning training for new team members. Assist in compiling the Overall Master Project Programme and baseline preparation.
- Review contractor planning packages and follow up on report submissions. Verify quality of inputs.
- Prepare daily construction reports and update construction KPI dashboards.
- Coordinate and integrate contractor schedules into the master programme. Perform histogram analysis bi-weekly/monthly.
- Track and monitor site activities daily, highlight deviations, and issue site-aheads. Analyze progress gaps and propose recovery plans.
- Report project progress including inputs for: client Monthly Progress Report, Programme, S-Curve, internal project status reports, Critical Path Analysis, milestones related to cash flow, evaluation/preparation of internal and external extension of time (EoT) claims and look-ahead reports as per Senior Project Planner instructions.
Qualifications and competencies
- Education: Formal Technical Qualification (Engineering, Construction, Project Management).
- 8+ years of project planning and scheduling experience in an EPC organization
- Fluent Arabic, English and French, both written and spoken
- Knowledge of Planning Tools (Primavera, MS Projects, MS Office).
- Ability to do detailed activity breakdowns of construction work, in terms of installation rates, durations and manpower.
- Availability to move close to project site.
- Planning Tools Specialist (Primavera, MS Projects, MS Office) including advanced and practical knowledge of Project Planning, Project Management and Document Management.
- Ability to be operational while analytical.
- Ability to lead and guide the project teams by providing relevant and on time information for decision making.
- Practical experience and know how on project constructability and sequencing including contractual interfaces.
