Main Purpose of the role

Currently we are looking for Construction Manager for wind project Ras gharib, Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
Responsible for overseeing all day-to-day construction activities, implement high on-site quality standards, ensure all personnel and contractors maintain high HSE standards, and monitor & report progress. Anticipate and lead the team reaction to challenging site conditions (like extreme heat and windy dust storms) during key construction activities.

Main point of contact with the Contractors at site, responsible to lead daily and weekly meetings, coordinate the sequence of the construction activities with the support of supervisors. Accountable for all balance of plant site construction activities.

 

Main responsibilities 

  • Manage the following key project disciplines at site in close cooperation with the local project manager, Health and Safety, Environmental management, logistics and warehouse, Quality Control, Document control of all quality documentation, Progress measurement of site activities and Community Liaison (Grievances); ensure the project is being executed within the contractual requirements and proactively assist the Construction Team
  • Ensure that basic services at site as security, control of entrance at site, office facilities (supply of electricity, water, cleaning, basic office material), vehicles; keep control of the budget related
  • Manage Scatec on site teams, responsible to plan and coordinate Scatec resources at site, control extra hours, rotations, commuting (daily to site / rotation), take actions on deviation of conduct, performance evaluation reviews.
  • Main point of contact with the Contractors at site, responsible to lead daily and weekly meetings, coordinate the sequence of the construction activities with the support of supervisors
  • Compile daily and weekly Construction reports based on on-site observations
  • Lead and Engage daily with the Scatec construction managers and supervisors in terms of progress, risks and quality of work
  • Evaluate construction progress reporting (from sub-contractors) daily and the validity thereof
  • Represent the Scatec (as EPC) in Community meetings together with local Project Manager as part of stakeholder engagement commitments as requested supporting the CLO, Unions, Local Police, Schools, Environmental and governmental related audits at site
  • Review invoices and Variation Order claims, support Project Manager on the evaluation and approval process
  • Organize and host visits at site, including support with the logistics to arrive at site safely, prepare agenda and person from Scatec team to follow the visitor during the stay at site
  • Support Supervisors to review contractor method statements and procedures, technical assessments/investigations, due diligence studies and designs
  • Manage close out phase at site, contractor’s demobilization, onboarding of O&M team and handover of activities

Qualifications and competencies 

Education:

Min:

Degree or Diploma in Construction Management/ Quantity Surveying

Good technical knowledge

An excellent knowledge of MS Office

Desirable:

Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

Specialization in Wind and/or renewables

Project Management Education

 

  • Experience:

    Min:

    8+ years working experience in a construction project environment – supervisory/management role

    This includes the following:

    Management of all construction aspects, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering works

    Staff management, time management, cost management, quality management and production management expertise

    5+ years working with EPC projects

    Ideal:

    5+ years management of renewable energy construction

    Thorough knowledge of Reinforced concrete and steel works

    Language:

    Fluent both written and spoken in Arabic

    Fluent both written and spoken in English
