Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for an interim Senior Accountant in Cape Town to be part of our global team working together towards our vision - Improving our future.
The role is responsible for the Accounting, Administration and Reporting of the Round 1 and 2 and RMIPPPP SPVs comprising 8 statutory entities. You will manage the full accounting process for the SPVs up to trial balance, prepare monthly internal reporting and analysis and support audit preparations and audit fieldwork enquiries, as well as provide the Senior Finance Manager with management accounting information, manage payments for the SPVs and respond to ad hoc queries..
Main responsibilities
- Financial accounting: capture day-to-day transactions on the ERP system (D365) supported by a Junior Accountant
- Bank reconciliations review for the SPV entities
- Maintain, review and coordinate the fixed asset register and IFRS16 lease reporting
- Reconcile and review balance sheet recons monthly
- Inter-company transactions, reporting, confirmations, eliminations, schedules, etc.
- Financial dimension/project/segment/BU review
- Travel account and expense claim reconciliation management
- Group IFRS reporting on Cognos incl. disclosure forms
- Monthly management reporting, queries and analysis of budget vs actual
- IFRS15 Revenue and Percentage of Completion (POC) calculations and reporting
- Power-BI/ERP Integrated Reporting for monthly management accounts and variance analysis
- Annual budget and forecasts, detailed cash flow forecasting and financial modelling
- Domestic and foreign payments, including SARB applications for foreign payments
- Prepare annual financial statements for local statutory reporting
- All statutory compliance and taxes, incl. preparation of the CIT and VAT returns, filing and payment
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or equivalent with solid academic results
- Professional qualification CA(SA) preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a senior position within the areas of finance, accounting, auditing, tax, and internal controls
- Preferred experience in Renewable Energy sector, other industries/companies with strong financial practices
- Expertise in IFRS accounting and internal controls and general tax knowledge
- Being flexible and experienced with ERP systems would be advantageous
