Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for an IT Manager in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.

As our IT Manager, you will manage and facilitate Scatec’s IT infrastructure and systems throughout the Sub-Saharan Africa region, ensuring that the company maintains up-to-date technology aligned with its global expansion and benchmarked against industry best practices. You will play a key role in implementing and maintaining Scatec’s IT strategy, projects, and policies, while aligning IT initiatives with business objectives to identify opportunities for improvement and cost efficiency. Furthermore, you will establish the governance and operational frameworks required to ensure a seamless, secure, and effective IT environment across Scatec’s geographic satellites and in collaboration with external service and systems providers.

 

Main responsibilities 

  • Serve as the main IT contact for Sub-Saharan Africa, managing vendor relationships, service contracts, and alignment with global IT partners.
  • Oversee regional IT policies, systems, and operations to ensure consistency with Scatec’s global standards.
  • Manage IT infrastructure including networks, hardware, software, and user access administration in collaboration with HR and business units.
  • Lead IT budgeting, procurement, asset management, and insurance to align with strategic and financial goals.
  • Ensure robust IT and data security compliance in line with Scatec’s global cybersecurity framework.
  • Supervise and mentor the regional IT Operations Team, fostering growth, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership for user support and helpdesk services, ensuring efficient issue resolution and a strong customer experience.
  • Plan and execute IT projects and installations, including system upgrades, migrations, and technology rollouts across regional offices and iCentres.

Qualifications and competencies 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT Related Field (Information Technology, Science/Computer Science)
  • A Minimum of 5-7 Years in a similar management role
  • Advantageous: Certifications or relevant experience in A+, N+ and areas such as Microsoft office 365, Azure, Intune, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. Proficiency with Microsoft XDR, MDM technologies like Microsoft Intune and cloud technologies such as OneDrive for Business.
  • Deep understanding of network architecture, protocols (TCP/IP), firewalls.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to translate technical issues and concepts into business language
