Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for HV Civil Construction engineer in Ras Gharib, Egypt for our Shadwan wind project to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
As our HV Civil Construction engineer you will Oversee all Civil activities on-site, track the physical progress of work, and report on status and deviations regarding quality, timeline, cost, and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment). Engage daily with site supervisors from sub-suppliers and manage sub-supplier/contractor relationships during the execution phase. This includes managing all aspects of work, from progress and quality to HSE, CLO (Community liaison office), security, and direct supervision of daily construction activities.
In addition, support PM and PTM in civil design and engineering phase to review drawings, reports and align interfaces with other disciplines and design verticals such as electrical and electromechanical.
Main responsibilities
- Supervise all HV/MV Substation Civil activities at the site, monitor the physical progress, and report on status and deviations related to quality, schedule, cost, and HSSE. Engage daily with site managers of sub-suppliers. Responsible for constructing civil elements such as earthworks, main grid, embedded components, transformer foundations, GIS Building/AIS Switchyard, epoxy finish levels in GIS rooms, GIS template alignment, HV gantry towers, MV trenching, building construction, cable trenches with trays or cable sailors.
- Review and approve construction documentation submitted by contractors, including Method Statements, and seek support and approval from the engineering team when needed. Support the Quality Team in reviewing material and component specifications and datasheets.
- Organize and lead Pre-Construction Meetings with subcontractors related to Civil activities, ensuring that work only begins after mutual agreement during these meetings.
- Monitor contractors’ daily progress, evaluate completion estimates in coordination with the planning team, and demand action or recovery plans when necessary. Support Quantity Surveillance in managing measurable contracts when applicable.
- Handle technical queries from suppliers, facilitate discussions and resolutions with the Lead Engineer and Civil Engineer, and ensure construction is executed using the latest drawings, manuals, and specifications. Verify that “red marks” on documentation are updated and signed.
- Coordinate with SSO Quality Inspectors regarding critical activities, ensuring their daily presence on-site for inspections and audits, including witness and hold point requests.
- Support the PTM, Lead Engineer, and Civil Engineer with technical assessments, investigations, due diligence studies, and design reviews.
- Interact with Wind/BOP Site Supervisors to integrate Wind/BOP activities with the HV Substation MV side, and assist the Quality Team with NCR processes, following up on the implementation of corrective actions. Participate in final inspections, completion, and acceptance of activities, including follow-up on final documentation such as punch lists and as-built drawings.
Qualifications and competencies
- Educational & Regulatory Knowledge: Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction, with preferred knowledge of EETC HV substation rules and Egyptian standards.
- Experience: 5+ years in HV/MV EPC or owner projects, including 3+ years with 500KV GIS substations, managing civil contractors and reading technical drawings.
- Skills & Languages: Fluent in Arabic and English, proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and project scheduling tools, with a valid driver’s license.

- 12 Month Contract with potential contract extension.
