Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for Grid & HV Construction lead – Electrical in Egypt to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
As our Grid & HV Construction lead – Electrical you will Supervise the execution of HV substation and OHTL construction, ensuring adherence to approved drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards on site (Naja Hammadi-Minya-Abuqir (Alex).
Main responsibilities
- Ensure proper installation of HV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection systems, following approved drawings and specifications.
- Supervise foundation works, steel structure erection, and installation of transmission towers and conductors, coordinating with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams to maintain schedule.
- Oversee testing and commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, functional tests, protection relay testing, and energization, ensuring documentation and grid compliance.
- Monitor progress and coordinate site activities to meet project timelines, minimize delays, and ensure adherence to EETC/grid codes, safety, and environmental standards.
- Implement quality control measures, conduct inspections, and address non-conformance reports (NCRs), ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEC, IEEE) and contractual obligations.
- Liaise with EPC contractors, vendors, and utility authorities, conducting regular meetings and providing progress reports, while managing approvals and grid connection procedures.
- Identify potential risks and implement proactive measures, addressing issues such as equipment failures or site conflicts through troubleshooting and coordination.
- Ensure all testing, documentation, and site activities meet project handover requirements, including proper record-keeping for Taking Over Certificates (TOC) and regulatory compliance
Qualifications and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in HV substation and transmission line construction.
- Proven experience in supervising contractors and subcontractors on large-scale power projects.
- Strong knowledge of testing & commissioning procedures for HV substations and transmission lines.
- Familiarity with EETC technical specifications, grid codes, and approval processes (or relevant regulatory
