Main purpose of position:
We are currently seeking an O&M Project Developer (Commercial) to join our Cape Town office and be part of our global team working toward our vision: Improving our Future. As our O&M Project Developer you will be
responsible for supporting the commercial and strategic development of Operations & Maintenance activities across renewable energy projects and operating assets.  The role focuses on financial modelling, cost optimization, commercial structuring, and market analysis to ensure competitive and bankable O&M solutions for projects from development through execution. The role works closely with Business Development, Engineering, Supply Chain and Asset Management to ensure optimal lifecycle value creation for renewable energy assets across multiple technologies and geographies.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Perform commercial analysis of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) costs to ensure competitive and realistic budgets across the operating portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, cost assumptions, and pricing databases related to O&M activities.
  • Conduct Levelized Cost of Energy analysis with O&M Engineering to support plant design optimisation.
  • Provide O&M commercial input and ensure budget alignment across Decision Gate 0 to Decision Gate 3 project stages, Engineering, Procurement and Construction budgets, and Special Purpose Vehicle financial models.
  • Support the development of O&M strategies and business cases for new projects.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis, identify suppliers, benchmark costs, and manage O&M -related Requests for Proposals processes.
  • Assist with contract reviews and identify opportunities for regional or portfolio-wide service agreements to achieve economies of scale.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Asset Optimisation, and Process and Standards teams to continuously improve Operations and Maintenance project development processes and ensure consistent technical and commercial assumptions.

 

Qualifications and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Finance/Accounting
  • 3-5 years relevant professional experience, preferably within the Renewables industry.
  • Experience with contract management and tendering is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Analytical mindset with financial acumen and high attention to detail.
  • Experience with financial modelling and business case development
  • Strong data interpretation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
