Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a HSSE Inspector/Coordinator, in Bacau Romania to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.

As our HSSE Inspector/Coordinator, you will be aapplying professional practices and providing solid Health Safety, Security and Environmental guidance required on site. The HSSE Supervisor is responsible to monitor site activities and ensuring that sound standards are implemented. He/she has the responsibility to ensure procedural conformity and practical execution of HSSE requirements in the actual work areas 

Project location – Comuna Buciumi, Judetul Bacau

 

Main responsibilities 

  • Support the relevant stakeholders in assuring that the project HSSE Management System is implemented as described in the project HSSE Plan/Scatec HSSE procedure and actively manages all requirements.  
  • Ensure the implementation of HSSE procedures and requirements, and disseminate related information. 
  • Conduct daily site inspections and regular audits of project activities such as construction and installation areas. This includes random inspections with the contractor’s HSSE personnel, vehicle & equipment checks, site housekeeping, PPE adherence and general HSSE matters. 
  • Create awareness and arrange regular drills on the emergency response plan, policies and procedures; 
  • Do daily inspection and verification for valid Permit to Works and associated compliance. 
  • Actively attend and participate in all HSSE-related meetings as required; 
  • Assist in investigating all incidents and near misses. Complete all incident reports efficiently and promptly. Ensure appropriate corrective actions for the incidents are implemented, risk assessments revisited and lessons learned are distributed. 
  • Support and follow HSSE improvement programs; 
  • Ensure that the Emergency Response system is ready and effective for possible emergencies, that these procedures have been established on-site and that these procedures are tested periodically.  
  • Assist in the coordination of Emergency Response situations when applicable. 
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are identified, reported and investigated in conformance with project requirements and corrective measures are identified and implemented; 
  • Support management to ensure compliance with local regulations, authorisation permits, and other relevant requirements within the subject matter.
  • This is a site-based position, at the Scatec construction site, Buciumi, Judetul Bacau The HSSE Coordinator is expected to be present on-site and not office-bound

 

Qualifications and competencies 

  • Higher education and relevant experience Preferably Nebosh International General Certificate in Occupational Health or Safety (OH&S) or equivalent professional OH&S qualification. 
  • 3+ years HSSE experience from large construction sites, preferably within the energy sector 
  • Experience in working in an international environment 
  • Knowledge of international standards related to Occupational Health and Safety ISO 45001:2018 and Environmental management ISO 14001:2015 
  • Experience with partners, stakeholders and contractors
  • Language: fluent both written and spoken in English and Romanian language
