Release is looking for an Accountant in Cape Town to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. We are seeking an engaged and ambitious person who is eager to contribute actively to the further development of our finance department. As our Accountant, you will execute the accounting, administrative and reporting process for Release South Africa and other tasks in the Release Group. This role also contributes to resolving operational challenges and streamlining efficiency, collaborating closely with the Accounting & Reporting Manager and the broader finance team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Main responsibilities

  • Capture and process day-to-day financial transactions accurately in the ERP system.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain and review inventory reporting to ensure accurate tracking and valuation.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts, including accruals, provisions, VAT, and FX revaluations.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, including invoicing, reconciliations, reporting, and eliminations.
  • Review financial actuals for accuracy and prepare monthly reports for Group submission.
  • Prepare annual financial statements in line with local regulations and accounting standards.
  • Ensure tax and statutory compliance, including VAT, corporate income tax, and CIPC submissions.
  • Support international payments and SARB applications, liaise with auditors, oversee invoice approvals, manage bank access, and assist with ad-hoc group finance tasks.

 

Qualifications and competencies 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or equivalent with solid academic results
  • 3-5 Years of relevant experience in a similar environment
  • Preferred experience from project-based companies with strong financial practices
  • Experience in IFRS accounting and internal controls and general Tax knowledge
  • Experience in inventory accounting
  • Experienced with D365 ERP system would be advantageous
