Why this role matters

As the O&M Field Engineer you will be responsible for on site personnel to perform specialised electrical, electronic, network communication and mechanical work and investigations on the Plants with special focus on inverters and BESS. To perform modification, repair and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and systems as well as switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level when required.  This is a role for someone who wants to combine technical depth with purpose, learn in a fast-moving international business, and build experience in one of the world’s most relevant industries.

 

What you'll be doing 

  • Ensure optimal performance of electrical, electronic, network communication and mechanical equipment and systems of all PV equipment and BESS
  • Inverter and BESS specialist for the Plant
  • Perform work and investigation in the modification, repair and maintenance of electrical, electronic, network communication and mechanical equipment and system
  • Lead plant level investigations into events/incidents and equipment with abnormal conditions
  • Assist electrical, electronic, network communication and mechanical work on the Plants
  • Perform switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level when required
  • Assist and support with the performance Preventative and Corrective Maintenance tasks
  • Ensure inverter and BESS availability and perform technical troubleshooting
  • Provide LV and HV switching as per Authorisation level when required
  • Perform functions of Authorised Person and Responsible Person as per Plant requirements

What you'll bring

Experience and Qualifications  

  • National Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering (N6) or NQF equivalent 
  • Ideal: BTECH: Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety legislation and best practices
  • Highly computer literate
  • 3 years’ appropriate experience in a relevant environment
  • Electrical knowledge (LV) and (HV)
  • Technical Support and Reports
  • Operating System and Process Control
  • Non-conformances and claims management
