Why this role matters

This role supports the continuous monitoring of Scatec's global portfolio of PV and Battery Energy Storage plants from the Global Operations Centre in Cape Town. You will help ensure 24-hour operational coverage, respond to alarms and operational events, coordinate work orders through the CMMS, and support the teams working to minimise plant downtime and maintain strong operational performance.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will:

• Monitor the global PV and BESS portfolio on a rotating shift basis, including morning, afternoon and night shifts, to support continuous operational coverage.
• Respond to operational events and alarms, complete first-line investigations, and escalate or coordinate the required action with the relevant site teams.
• Create, manage, and track work orders in the CMMS for plant anomalies, operational events, and plant performance activities.
• Communicate directly with site personnel across the global portfolio to share information, guide responses, and ensure Plant Supervisors are informed of key occurrences.
• Monitor plant performance through SCADA and other operational systems, and help ensure systems are available and functioning as required.
• Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance reporting, including flash reports for major events and significant plant activities.
• Support the monitoring and coordination of responses to significant events on plants, including technical input where needed on GOC and plant operations.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of GOC processes, procedures, records, and operational reporting requirements.

Your work will support real-time operational decisions across a global renewable energy portfolio.

What you'll bring

Experience and qualifications

• BTech or relevant technical qualification, preferably with a focus on electrical, power systems, or a related discipline.
• Strong computer literacy and confidence working with operational systems, data, reporting tools, and technical information.
• Knowledge of power electrical systems, including LV and HV systems and support services, with an understanding of AC and DC systems preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, drawings, and operational information.
• Understanding of plant electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, SCADA, network communication, and plant monitoring equipment will be advantageous.
• Exposure to SCADA systems, CMMS, maintenance planning, or control and monitoring of PV and/or BESS plants will be advantageous.

• Renewable energy experience will be advantageous, particularly within PV, BESS, or operational plant environments.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to compile, interpret, and report on operational data.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages will be advantageous.

A proactive, structured, and collaborative working style, with the ability to prioritise, communicate clearly, work independently, and contribute positively in a shift-based team environment.
